Splitting tips between staff · Shiftyer
Split tips by points, by hours or evenly, with a statement for each person showing the pool, the method and the arithmetic behind their share.
- Three methods: points, hours, or an even split.
- A weight for every role, kitchen included, set by you.
- A statement for each person showing how the figure was reached.
- Exports by shift or by month.
- Each person sees their share and the rules; the manager sees the whole shift.
By points, by hours or evenly, with a statement for each person showing the arithmetic.
Tips are the thing a team checks most closely, and they are usually worked out on paper or in somebody’s head. The problem is not the arithmetic — it is that nobody except the person doing it can see how it was done.
Here the working is open: everybody sees their own share and the route it took to get there.
Three ways to split
- Points — each role carries a weight, and the pool is split by weight times hours.
- Hours — split in direct proportion to the hours worked on the shift.
- Evenly — everybody who worked that shift gets the same amount.
What comes out
Each person gets a statement showing the pool, the method, their share, and the calculation behind it. All of it exports as a file, by shift or by month.
Common questions
Can the kitchen take a share?
Yes. Points are set per role, and a kitchen role can carry a weight like any other. You decide the weights and the arithmetic follows.
What about somebody who worked half a shift?
On hours and on points they get what they worked. On an even split they get a full share, which is why an even split suits shifts everybody works in full.
Does everybody see everybody else’s share?
Each person sees their own share and the rules it was worked out by. The full picture of a shift is the manager’s.
